When I first saw this news today, I must admit I got a little excited. Thor lacing them up to play the Hulkster:
But my excitement waned when I actually read the story. Yeah sure, Todd Phillips is directing and Bradley Cooper is one of the producers. You know who else is a producer? Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Hulkster but the only people who may love him more than 8 year old me are Bischoff and Hogan himself. Then when I saw this, my Thor Hogan boner softened considerably:
In the 21st century, however, Hogan’s fortunes were see-sawing as personal conflicts overtook those inside the ring. Most notably, he was embroiled in a sex tape scandal, with the wife of a friend and radio personality, including a years-long lawsuit that precipitated the end of Gawker and led to Hogan receiving tens of millions of dollars in a settlement.
The biopic will not delve into those years or attempt to encompass Hogan’s entire life. Instead, sources say it will focus on his rise and is described as an origin story of the Hulkster and Hulkamania.
BOOOOO! Everyone who would care enough to see this movie knows how Hulk Hogan happened. Give me the Hogan story of 2000 and beyond. I want the sex tape stuff, the suit vs. Gawker and his suspension from WWE. You can leave out the Rent-A-Center commercials with Troy Aikman though.
